Most important reason of transplant number being so low is the insufficiency of transplant centers as well as difficulties of finding donor. Liver Transplantation

Liver has the largest internal organ of our body having more than 400 functions. Among its duties; there is synthesizing the important constituents such as cholesterol, phospholipids, coagulation factors, bile secreting, cleaning the body from numerous chemical substance and drugs, regulating the immune system and adjusting the level of blood sugar. Numerous acute and chronic diseases affecting the liver may irreversibly effect such vital functions. It is mandatory to replace the organ failing to perform its duties with liver transplant under following condition also unable to be treated with the possibilities of modern medicine with a new liver. 80-90% of success rate is achieved if the liver transplant is made on time with the advancement of medical and surgical treatments and better perceiving the liver anatomy.

Mainly liver transplant indications:

Organ required for patients having liver transplant decision must be provided with the organs donated after brain death. In case of failing to compensate the request through deceased donation, live donor transplants are performed up to forth degree kin as in other transplants. 70% of the completely healthy liver may be received from the live donors elected among the healthy individuals.
